How would you like a nice mythtv multimedia box like this?

mythtv.jpg

first we need to consider a system, i would recommend at least a 80g hdd, athlon1800/intel P3x2g cpu, Nvidia mx2 and a dvb-t card. (sound like humble hardware? well were talkin linux here not windows MCE.).

ok, after we have thrown together our hardware, we want a nice linux disto to base our project on, I have chosen ubuntu mainly because i know a little about installing stuff using ubuntu's synaptic package manager.

Installing mythTV

i originally posted a guide based on ubuntu 6.04 (dapper) however the later version 8.04 has a lot better support for mythTV so following this guide is my prefered option Garry Parkers Ubuntu mythTV guide .
